Architecture + Design Competition

This competition winning ‘vertical city of gardens’ emerging from a low-rise base ‘ring’ with sunken gardens, will be an important gateway to Dubai, not only along the Emirates Highway, but also from the air—especially at night.

The project incorporates nearly 12M sf of office, residential, hospitality, and leisure uses in three towers, and the ring of office buildings forms an oasis spanning many levels—sunken gardens, skylit lobbies below pools, event spaces, and seasonal courtyards—all working to form temperate shaded passages throughout the year. This protective perimeter creates a comfortable microclimate. The towers rise from the water garden and merge with the sky, overlooking the broader context. Suspended over the pool, a ten-story ‘emerald spa/conference center defies gravity.

The windswept tower forms are shaped by the path of the sun and prevailing air currents, with optimized view corridors, and glass in moderation—shaded by perforated screens inspired by intricate Arabian lattices—with intergral photovoltaic power generation. Responsible and sustainable living is at the core of the design, including photovoltaic panels and helical wind turbines to power much of the project. Gray and condensate water is reclaimed to reflecting pools, thermal fountains, and the landscape. Heritage Project
