Born in Germany, Killian was transplanted to the mountains of Colorado at just 19 months of age where she remained until attending the University of Arizona. During her time there she also had the privilege of studying at the Istituto Internazionale di Studi Classici di Orvieto perched in the heart of the Italian countryside. Since receiving her Bachelor of Architecture in 2008 and before landing in Phoenix, she had split her time between Telluride, Colorado and Tucson, Arizona. Although meandering, her path has led her to pick up a diverse and varied skillset working on projects ranging from custom residential to franchise rebrands to master plans to corporate interiors, just to name a few.
Joining WORKSBUREAU in early 2017, Killian’s work continues to span commercial, residential, and public sectors. Notably, in the commercial sector, she has created a corporate work environment that has enhanced collaboration among its 200+ employees while enforcing brand and mission through design. Conversely, in the residential sector, she has crafted a small home [less than 900 sf] packed with both tectonic detailing born from structural challenges and thoughtful storage solutions born from a tight floor plan.
Killian has never considered herself just an architect of the built environment but an artist and a problem solver that can conceptualize innovative, conscious ideas, especially through the collaborative process.
Throughout her career, Killian has found fulfillment in honing architecture and interior design as a fluid and integrated process. As a licensed architect with extensive interior design experience, she strives to create spaces that are elegant expressions of our clients’ needs.
